DTI taps CSU-SM to train NIPA Sap Sugar Making

Through a request letter dated April 19, 2017, forwarded by Engr. Bernardino G. Mabborang, the Provincial Director of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and in collaboration with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), to the Campus Executive Officer of CSU-Sanchez Mira, Dr. Narcitas B. Ouano, a training on Nipa Sap Sugar Making was extended to its housewives and farmers as beneficiaries with the expert Dr. Janet O. Bagasol, former dean of the College of Hospitality Industry Management, as the trainer. The said training was also participated by Dr. Eleanor L. Cacacho, the Extension and Training Coordinator of the campus.

The training with the main objective of providing the beneficiaries with the suitable technical know-how to go into Nipa Sap Sugar processing business was given to the beneficiaries of Caagawan, West Aparri, Cagayan on April 25, 2017 and to the recipients of Payagan, Ballesteros, Cagayan on April 26, 2017.

“Livelihood support and development in the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program is one of our mandates”, the Provincial Director said in an encounter. “This was the very reason why this training was thought of”, he added.

Furthermore, they anticipated that the training would develop a new enterprise in two of their Agrarian Reform Communities namely PAWEFUME in Ballesteros, Cagayan and CAAGAMAN in West Aparri, Cagayan.
